Hello fans of The Heavy Stuff – thanks for your visit today. Today’s post is my reflection on what I consider to be interesting `data’ – so to speak. Namely, for me, and IMO, the absolute absurdity that you and I exist in what can only be described as the Universe’s OPENING MOMENTS of space-time. Indeed, recently in my other blogs I ran a link that indicated that the latest science minds think there will be `planets’ in our Universe 100 billion trillion years from now that have a `liquid’ water surface.
In other words, for at least a hundred billion trillion years – LIFE as we know it – will have a chance to exist. ——– Now, think about the idea that THE SAME UNIVERESE – our universe – is only 13.7 billion years old – just over 1% of the way to THE FIRST TRILLION. A minute fraction of the time that `intelligent’ life will have a chance to exist. Indeed, such a minute fraction, as to call into `reason’ how it is that WE are HERE-NOW – at the FIRST moments. And, BTW, the `possible life’ portion of our Universes possible total existence – is just a FRACTION of the total time that atoms and such will exist as our representation of previous data. Calling into `reason’ even more-so – of our `placement’ in the Universe.
IF I were a religious person, it would be reason enough to think somehow that `humans’ and our era of time – was indeed, special. Unique. Important. EVEN IF our planet wasn’t in existence until the last 1/3 or so of the time since the big bang. And, EVEN IF mankind’s `reign’ on the planet is measured in perhaps 600 generations since the last Ice Age.
But, I am not religious. And, to me, the idea that WE ARE HERE NOW – almost smacks us in the face – as to the absurdity or impossibility – that this is the way `things are’. Indeed, as the human brain seems to figure out our placement in the universe of `things’ – including such possibilities that we are indeed some sort of `computer simulation’ of what is REAL for a given moment – my mind wanders into what is probably forbidden territory. Such as, we would not be able to comprehend being in a Universe already 300 Trillion years old – and therefore the `universe’ gives us data we are willing to accept.
But, being at SUCH THE BEGINNING of time – A UNIQUE TIME – also brings about an incredibly interesting possibility – that being – that `sometime’ in the last 8 billion years or so – SOME INTELLIGENCE on some planet – was indeed, the FIRST SELF AWARE entities on any planet. AND THERE EXISTED – NO OTHERS.
But, that is ONLY for THIS UNIVERSE – and as we know – science is suggesting to us that OTHER UNIVERSES may exist. And, maybe the REAL Universe – the one that beget all the others – such as ours – IS – BILLION OF TRILLIONS of years old — and guess what – THAT INCLUDES us!

There’s the new idea that (a) black holes can survive a big crunch and (b) aliens might survive inside rotating black holes, thus there’s a means for Intelligences to survive the death of their previous cosmos. One problem – you can’t leave a black hole without help. Someone has to drop a wormhole into a black-hole for you to leave it. SO maybe our predecessors are waiting for us to do just that. How many times have they jumped in a hole and pulled it closed after themselves to escape the Big Crunch?
