The 1960’s RAND Corporation Paper Titled - UFOs: What to Do? (Part Two)

Hello and welcome back to The Heavy Stuff (THS) - thanks for visiting today. As you can see from the title of today’s post, I will be wrapping up the look at the RAND paper written in 1969 accessing the Ufo situation at that time. And, as I showed in Part One http://theheavystuff.com/?p=109 some things have `changed’ about UFO’s, but mostly, it is very similar to what is reported these days. (This is the direct link to the report by RAND - http://www.nicap.org/papers/randdoc.htm)

To summarize part one - what hasn’t changed is that anomalous lights have been appearing in the sky since before the Ufo Era - but that today’s era is less likely to see a `saucer’ shaped craft than before. Indeed, the term flying saucer has largely be replaced by the more generic term UFO - which includes all type of crafts - including today’s increasingly V shaped craft.

Part One also covered how in the past - that Ufo’s were more thought of as a security threat; a feature of UFO’s that our media seldom features as important. (Which leads to thoughts that our media is censored in this area.) We also covered in Part One how the CIA decided that Ufo’s were not a military threat and that the best idea was to belittle the observers of Ufo’s “It was the CIA’s recommendation, apparently, that was made policy, for the investigative procedures used since 1953 have been vestigial and the handling of the subject by the authorities tended to make witnesses look ridiculous.”

Further points in Part One include the astonishing figures of the probable number of planets in JUST the Milky Way that could have inhabitable systems - try 400 million to 2.4 billion in just OUR Milky Way galaxy. A number our media never even begins to explore. The paper then suggested we look for phenomenology that might represent `crafts’ that are visiting Earth - when doing so - the paper presented close-up Ufo sightings that could as easily come from today’s databases about Ufo’s. The paper suggested that these close-up cases cannot be explained away.

Looking quantitatively at the phenomena the report suggested that the majority of crafts were shaped as a disk/oval/circle - silver/metallic/or white as a color - except at night - when the plurality color associated with UFO’s was red.

Part Two

The first thing of interest is that some observers of UFO’s indicated that they `turn-on and turn-off’ — sometimes even with the flashing of a hand light or vehicle lights - a phenomena that when reported today - causes smirks of untold proportion. Sometimes the lights flash on and off or change color rhythmically. Several cases have been reported of the UFO flashing its lights in response to the witness flashing hand or vehicular lights. In other cases the lights winked off with the approach of another car or an aircraft, only to turn on again when the vehicle had passed….The last class, that of violent and erratic maneuvers, most clearly lacks an explanation from current physical theory. Using terms like bobbing, erratic, jerky, zigzag, dark, and shot away, witnesses describe motions involving high angular accelerations and velocities. A number of radar observations appear to substantiate this anomalous behavior. Among the 40 cases showing such characteristics, NICAP finds that 28 percent were reported by scientific or other appropriately experienced personnel. And, as you know, these behaviours are still observed of UFO’s.

Also covered by the NICAP report are Ufo `flaps’ - “NICAP lists a number of these “flaps”. Sometimes they are very localized, covering only a small portion of a state for a period of a few weeks. APRO concludes, on the basis of the reports available to them, that the patterns of appearance follow phases - atomic test areas and installations in the late 1940s and early 50s, rivers, reservoirs and bodies of water in the late 50s and early 60s and now electrical distribution systems.”

The report then covered:

Interactions with the Environment

Interactions of UFOs with the environment produce a kind of believability that pure visual observations will never do. Some examples of interaction are cases showing electromagnetic disturbances in practically every kind of device — radio, TV, auto ignition, aircraft electronics, compass, magnetometer, magnetic automobile speedometer, etc. NICAP lists 106 examples. NICAP also lists 81 cases of radar

-28-tracking of UFOs, most of which were simultaneous with visual sightings, and a number of which involved use of interceptors.” There seems little doubt that these events were real with this type of proof. Here is the NICAP summary: “In summary, we see a wide, almost exasperating range of reported phenomenology. By careful interviews with witnesses and analysis of a large number of reports the significant patterns in phenomenonology should appear. If the UFOs are a new manifestation of nature, they should exhibit some patterns of appearance or behavior which would aid in identifying and predicting them. If of extraterrestrial origin and intelligently guided it may be possible to anticipate appearances. This will be discussed in the next and final essay.”

Finally, the RAND report gets to its conclusions about what UFO’s might be - I don’t see any new suggestions - now - decades later:

1. Hoaxes, fabrications, and frauds. 2.Hallucinations, mass hysteria, and rumor phenomena 3. Misinterpretations of well known physical phenomena 4.Poorly understood physical phenomena (rare electrical or moteorological effects, plasmas). 5.Advanced technologies (test vehicles, satellites, reentry effects). 6. Poorly understood psychic phenomena (psychic projections, archetypal images, parapsychological phenomena, etc). It is difficult to comment on this possibility because the current lack of knowledge of parapsychology. While a (small) number of UFO reports do exhibit aspects of parapsychological phenomenology (25) general relationships have yet to be convincingly demonstrated. 7.Extraterrestrial probes. A possibility commonly held by the public and commonly rejected by scientists. Prof. McDonald believes a number of sightings are best explained by this hypothesis 8. Messengers of salvation and occult truth. This explanation is listed because of the nature of certain reports (particularly “contact” reports — reports involving communication of UFO occupants and the witnesses) and because of the historical aspects of the phenomenology. 9.Other

The report then goes on to say:Clearly, the explanation of UFOs will interest someone. Psychologists have an interest in 1, 2, 3 and 6; theologians in category 8, scientists in 4 and 7. Therefore, whatever the explanation, it is a problem of at least average interest. If, by chance, the explanation is 7, or even 8 (and possibly 6) the value to society would be profound and significant. In this sense, an identification of the phenomenon would be a task of highest potential urgency. The report then goes on suggesting organizing groups of scientists to study reports worldwide; concluding with:

Certainly the conclusions drawn by NICAP from reports in their file are startling and, if valid worthy of considerable scientific effort. It would be much more convincing if data could be collected worldwide and if the most interesting reports could be intensively and completely investigated. I believe current reports justify the expanded data collection and analysis effort.

Quite a report - wouldn’t you say? Wouldn’t it be nice if we had an open-minded science community like the good old days? When certain topics were not off limits to the media? Wouldn’t it have been nice if some area of science studied this for the last 40 years - since this report? And, if you were in the government 40 years ago - would you have let this report collect dust - forever?

So, what is my bottom line? ———— Little has changed, except perhaps - new variation in design (more V’s) - which to me suggests - back engineered `human’ ufo’s are more numerous. And, that would be the reason the secrecy has gotten even more intense and the media reason for laying off sensitive areas of the controversy.

What do you think? I look forward to your comments. And, if you want more UFO stuff - visit my UFO blog - at www.ufodisclosurecountdownclock.blogspot.com for much more controversy.

Gallons Of Disclosure, Disclosure Everywhere - And - Not Even A `Sip’ Of `Confirmation’ To Drink

Two days ago I received an E-Mail from one of the top `ufo’ websites - providing me a heads up on the Ufo Disclosure that was happening in Brazil and perhaps Sweden too. And, like all of the recent `disclosures’ of decades old material concerning unidentified flying objects - the documents numbered in the 1,000’s if not 10’s of 1,000’s. All of these `disclosures’ getting 15 minutes of fame - at best - on the big media and really only lasting a few days on the internet buzz factor.

And, when such events happen - disclosure events that is - those perhaps 300,000 in the USA who actually care about the issue due to seeing a UFO themselves - or - the very very few, who actually think that the government has a shred of concern about truthfulness on things - tend to get all excited. Maybe even begin to think the time is closer for the USA to do such a thing.

But, like last month’s O’Hare UFO Video Hoax — does it really matter if `this’ is what `disclosure’ is going to amount to? A several foot high pile of old papers that look like they belong in some other era? With old stories of high strangeness that make the whole subject nearly inaccessible to 95% of people even interested in the general phenomena of UFOs? With many if not most of the `witnesses’ dead or now older folks with foggy memories?

It doesn’t even matter if the material within such `disclosure’ even has direct mention of `alien beings’ - really - as the `accounts’ amount really to a `subjective view’ of an eyewitness (and this is the level of belief the media gives it). Nowhere do we find the beyond a doubt objective proof - the beyond a doubt clear photograph or film evidence - or left behind calendar from another planet (or any artifact) — having to be `satisfied’ with the golly shucks `now what could that be’ - as the level of `concern-or-seriousness’ given to the experiences. No dead alien bodies, and no crashed spaceships.

NONE of these `disclosure countries’ (note how I’m putting disclosure with a small D) after the `release’ of the material has had their President saying — “So there it is folks - alien beings are in our skies“. NONE. NADA. ZILCH. What the hell kind of disclosure is THAT? Is THAT the kind of `disclosure’ coming to America? Some sort of `disclosure’ that DOESN’T INCLUDE some statement concerning a confirmation of `current alien intrusion’?

If so, - to me - don’t even bother - would be my advice.

But, frankly, this is how it probably will `come down’ - that is, without any confirmation - it’s the way politicians like to operate. Some `middle’ position that is most palatable to the `most’ that somehow is to be interpreted as `them’ doing the right thing for the sheeple. You know, being `transparent’.

Or, am I just too much of a cynic?

The 1960’s RAND Corporation Paper Titled - UFOs: What to Do? (Part One)

Recently on my main Squidoo page I carried a link to an article on the NICAP site (National Investigations Committee On Aerial Phenomena) which was a paper made by a high level research group (basically a thinktank) in the 1960’s about Ufo’s (all links at bottom of article) . So, in today’s post, I want to review some of the basic assumptions that existed then, 40 years ago, and, see if `things’ have really changed all that much in terms of `reasonable science analysis’ being applied to the phenomena of Ufo’s.

The research paper - a long one - is divided as shown below in its contents section:

INTRODUCTION . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . 1
Part 1: UFO’s: Historical Aspects . . . . . . . . . . . 2
Part 2: UFO’s: Astronomical Aspects . . . . . . . . 8
Part 3: UFO’s: The Character of Reports . . .. . 12
Part 4: UFO’s: Phenomenological Aspects . …. 24
Part 5: UFO’s: How to Proceed and Why . . . . 29
A REPORT FORM . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 33
BIBLIOGRAPHY . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 40

The introduction begins with these words: “UFOs — unidentified flying objects, or flying saucers as they are often called — have been on the mind of the public for at least the last 22 years.”  Perhaps most startling from the papers introduction - is the total move away from the term `flying saucers’ in the modern age. Could that be because the `reports’ these days seem to involve multiple categories of `crafts’ being seen such as V shapes and more? And, that the typical `saucer’ shape is no longer a majority! (I blogged about this recently in an analysis I did of reports recently - link on the bottom.)

PART 1: UFOs — HISTORICAL ASPECTS

But, don’t let the term `flying saucer’ diminish your desire to read this research - for - as soon as the real verbiage begins after the introduction - it immediately begins to sound pretty similar to the oft told tale of Ufo Buffs in today’s era.

And, to me, that oft told tale involves the idea of `this is NOT NEW phenomena’ (Ufo’s are not new.) — and — indeed, that is how the `historical’ account of the research begins: “Those familiar with the UFO literature are aware that reports of sightings did not begin with Arnold’s sighting in 1947, but that phenomenology much the same as is reported today can be found in documents going back to the earliest times……. What (`phenomenology’) was reported? Luminous discs, shields, globes and elongated objects in the sky, sometimes alone, sometimes in large numbers. Occasional descriptions of interactions with the observers are also mentioned, including landings, and seeing and communicating with occupants. The latter events especially were almost always interpreted in a religious context.” (emphasis and bracket, mine)

So, we can see that 4 decades ago - `flying saucers’ also included most of the descriptions of today’s phenomena too. Indeed, this paper even ascribes the strange events at Fatima, Portugal in 1917 as possible Ufo phenomenology witnessed at times by upwards of 70,000 persons of all religious levels and types.

The study goes on to talk about the incredible number of sightings that surrounded the time-frame of Kenneth Arnolds sighting in 1947 - “The modern period of the phenomenon began with a widely publicized sighting made by Kenneth Arnold in Washington state in 1947. A study by Bloecher of North American reports over the four week period bracketing the Arnold sighting lists 853 events, including 38 sightings made before Arnold’s heavily publicized Sighting. (8)

When I read that there were over 800 events in the summer of 47 - it blew my mind - certainly, that number is not widely known or talked about today. Indeed, it brings into speculation - just what exactly was going on? What happened on Earth to bring about such a `response’? Is it the obvious `answer’ of humans moving into the `nuke age’? And,  if so, why the exaggerated and `delayed’ response if it was that - after all - the nukes first went `off’ in 1945. (Unless secret tests, still unknown, happened before hand.) Indeed, did those first or subsequent A-Bombs `move’ the Earth itself from `expected locations’ - which set off `programs’ on `entities or hardware monitoring Earth’?

Could it be that Entities that monitor for the actual ability for a species to `move a planet’ from a projected path - exist? And, who know that when a `planet moves’ that a species on the planet has aquired the abilitiy to harness energy via their intelligence? Indicating that a threshold has been crossed?

It seems that way to me - but - lets move onward with the research paper.

Because the early reports seemed to suggest airborne craft of unusual appearance and kinematics, the problem came to rest with the newly organized U.S. Air Force. Initial fears were that the country was being over flown by advanced foreign aircraft, possibly on intelligence missions. The latter was suggested by the large number of sightings from the White Sands, New Mexico area and from the vicinity of the Hanford, Washington atomic plant…. Serious inquiry proceeded for a few years without any positive results” And, as to be expected - National Security was a concern. Indeed, our government had a more serious response it seems then - than our `modern age’ of governance - which, evidently, wants to sweep away the very idea that intelligence greater than man might exist. Indeed, now, the emphasis of the media is NOT on Ufo’s breaking military security zones - ever - really. To talk about that nowadays - even though it happens (or is reported to) - is obviously another of the areas that are off-limits for our weakened and spoon fed big media. (Sad to say.)

No, in today’s modern era, ufo’s are portrayed as `strange things’ seen by the common man - nowadays. It makes one wonder if even reporting about security violations by Ufo’s is permitted by the government for big media.

Again, from the report ” By 1952 the number of reports coming in was so large that the CIA was concerned that an actual attack on the country might not be immediately recognized. A panel of scientists was then convened in January 1953 to study the available evidence and see what conclusion could be reached about UFOs. After seven days of hearing evidence and discussing the matter it was concluded that there was only circumstantial evidence of the extraterrestrial hypothesis. The panel recommended a broadened study effort with full disclosure of investigations. In order to unplug the military intelligence channels, however, the CIA recommended that, since the UFOs apparently posed no threat, the Air Force should debunk UFO reports and try generally to discourage public interest in them, in the hope that they would go away. (11) … It was the CIA’s recommendation, apparently, that was made policy, for the investigative procedures used since 1953 have been vestigial and the handling of the subject by the authorities tended to make witnesses look ridiculous.” There could hardly be a more revealing paragraph than this one — as - the government still seems to simply hope that the `reports go away’ - does treat those that come forward with ridicule - and discourages the public from an interest in disclosure. In this regard, what comes around - goes around - and has never left.

PART 2: UFOs — ASTRONOMICAL ASPECTS

“The astonishing thing would be if they did not exist.” Jean Cocteau

From this section of the report  - “To begin with, the observable universe — that is, the distance to which we can observe luminous objects — is several billion light years in radius ” Scientists, as you probably know,  have expanded that radius of our universe considerably - indeed, we now know that `beyond the observable universe’ is simply `more universe’ that will never be part of our observable area.

Indeed, again, as you probably know, because of `dark energy’ more and more of the universe is being pushed `over’ the observable `edge’ every moment of existence now. “Now let us just consider the stars in our own galaxy — specifically excluding those in neighboring or distant galaxies…Since planetary orbits are often unstable in multiple systems (depending on the details of the configuration) we will say that only 30 billion stars in our galaxy now have a dynamical environment that permits planets to exist around them. …..In fact if we select only those stars similar to the sun (whose peak of radiation energy coincides with a region of terrestrial atmospheric transparency) we have only a few percent of the total — about one in 30. Therefore, we would expect about 1000 million suitable solar type stars exist. Of these, it is estimated by various astronomers that 200-600 million have planets at about the right distance and have been around long enough that life forms as developed as our own could exist” Now, dear readers, remember here - we are ONLY talking about the Milky Way - our galaxy- and not even ONE of the other billions within the observable universe - and - indeed, the 1960’s estimate of 100 billion stars in the Milky Way Galaxy that you read above — well, that turns out according to 2009 estimates to be 200-400 billion stars. So, at whatever level previous `life’ estimates were based on, just for the Milky Way - multiply that by a factor of 2-4.

So, if 200-600 hundred million was a reasonable assumption - we better make that 400 million to 2.4 billion systems with habitable planets - just in the MILKY WAY. I mean WOW - what an astonishing number. This number certainly is larger for the Milky Way than is ever really brandished about in the big meda we are all fed and fattened with. No wonder the Vatican has a more modest position now on life elsewhere.

Then, though a process of sieving the information - we get this analysis - and remember, the estimate is already `off’ by a `factor’ of 2x-4x “It should be clear from assumption (3) and the example of our own development, that among the populated planets those younger than the sun would be peopled by beings very much behind us technologically, while those on older planets would be extraordinarily advanced (remember our progress of 500 years and note that some planets could be as much as a few billion years older). Indeed, we would be surprised to find someone else at just our stage of technological development. For the purposes of this paper, we can ignore both the multitude younger than ourselves and those at our point of development. Even so, we are left with the possibility of 100,000,000 planets in the galaxy having life forms very much advanced from us. (This number would be reduced significantly if life forms destroyed themselves soon after reaching our age of development. This is a philosophical point on which I am optimistic — I believe the majority of races will learn to survive.) If these stars are uniformly distributed in the galactic disk, the average separation will be about 10 light years. ” (emphasis mine)

Wow. How is this number analysis for a sobering realization as to what `the numbers’ might suggest? Wouldn’t you say that advanced life is more likely, and abundant, than normally suggested  by our big media? I would suggest - YES.

Indeed, if the average was 10 light years for advanced life - it really makes `visitors’ to our planet potentially `any-lifeform’ attaining `interstellar travel’ be it above or even below the speed of light (SOL) if at a significant % of the SOL.

(That is not to suggest that `entities’ from planets traveling at only a small fraction of light - `are everywhere’ - obviously, if that was the manner that real interstellar travel is occurring - then, only a `fraction’ of `intelligences’ will be able to organize engineering and have `the will or desire’ to carry out galactic missions.)

Here is an excerpt of what the RAND paper said about this issue of interstellar travel ”If it has been discovered by one, we certainly would expect it to be used; if no other planet’s inhabitants independently discovered the means, it makes little difference for such a thing could be taught by the discoverer. Thus we may conclude that it is very likely that at least one, and probably many of the 100 million advanced planetary populations is capable of interstellar travel. ” And, with this logic - paper next goes to this “The next question is, of course, have any of them been here? That question cannot yet be answered definitively. Without knowing what kind of phenomenology extraterrestrial visitors might exhibit, I will fall back on my scientific, mechanistic attitudes and say it makes sense to look for some kind of vehicle or spaceship. It appears that the class of phenomenology called UFO reports may contain, as a subset, actual observations of such craft. We shall now turn to the reports “

PART 3: UFOs — THE CHARACTER OF REPORTS

It’s in the character of the reports where the RAND Corp. looks for the `interesting cases’ “The really interesting class of reports is that reporting phenomenology which is clearly extraordinary. The observer’s qualifications may be such that the report is not only highly credible but is articulate and quantitative as well. It is this subclass of reports, variously estimated at 5 to 20 percent of the total, that offer hope of our learning what is going on…. Hynek considers two parameters of reports) credibility and strangeness, and suggests that the investigator really needs only to be concerned with reports having high strangeness and high credibility. The physical scientist is in a position to evaluate strangeness, the social scientist should be able to provide some measure of credibility” The report then picks 4 ufo incidents to focus on - and here - again - the `reports’ from those seeing ufo’s:

Incident one : “It was moving slowly and silently in an east-to-west direction at not over 50 ft. above street level….’The UFO appeared to be about the size of one of the Cape Cod houses over which it passed, which would make it approximately 30 ft. in diameter and about the same dimension in height. It was circular, surmounted by a dome giving off flashes of green light. The center section rotated a series of square shaped “windows”, each giving off a brilliant white light. The base section was somewhat saucer-shaped, ….All told, there were at least 15 persons in the vicinity who acknowledged seeing the object at about the same time as the sightings”

Then, incident two: “After a minute or so, as she now recalls it, a new object, perhaps three of four times as large as the little objects, came out of the cloud on its east side. After it emerged, the small objects began to emerge also, taking up a V-formation pattern behind it. The V comprised a line of four-abreast just to the rear of the large object, then a line of three-abreast behind that, and finally two-abreast in the rear. Thus the point of the V was to the rear (in the sense of the emergent and subsequent motion). This formation permitted the first accurate count of the small objects, nine in all. No sooner had the last pair emerged than all ten objects shot off to the northeast, climbing out of sight in a time that she thought was probably two to three seconds. She does not recall what happened to the cloud after the ten objects departed” So, here - in the OLD days of ufo’s - V formations and a `number of objects’ not just one.

Then, incident three:”Jay Munger, operator of an all-night bowling alley, was drinking coffee with two police officers, James Overton of the Corning force and Frank Rakes of the Orland force, when Munger suddenly spotted the object out the front windows of his bowling alley. In a moment all three were outside observing what they each described as a dark gray oval or disc-shaped object with a bright light shining upwards on its top and a dimmer light shining downward from the underside. A dark gray or black band encircled the mid-section of the object….

The weather was clear, no haze, no wind, according to the witnesses. Munger’s concise comment was “I’ve never seen anything like it before.” He estimated its “diameter” at perhaps 50-100 ft, and its vertical thickness as perhaps 15-20 ft, with some kind of edge (band) perhaps 5-10 ft thick. No sound was ever heard. Overton stated to me that he had no idea what it was, but that “there was no doubt it was a craft of some sort.” So, these crafts, these objects - come in different sizes and styles. Just like today’s reports.

Incident Four: “The children shouted to her to “come out and see the silent plane”. She writes “I glanced out the south window and there it was coming into sight just south of our 72 foot silo moving very slowly from east to west. It was about 35 feet high. My first thought was that it was a plane making an emergency landing, but when I saw it in full view, I knew it was no plane, not like anything I have ever seen. I hurried outside to join the children in the yard. It continued to move in a straight line to the west. We could see it clearly as it drifted over a 50 by 100 foot machine shed being built at the time [the workers were, however, in the fields this day]. It appeared to be larger than our car, and was more oval. There was a bluish glow around the ends, top, and bottom of it. It (the glow) wasn’t bright, since it was daylight yet, but more like a low cloud, haze, or fog; or a mixture of bluish-grey tiny bubbles floating along around it. The object was seen clearly. It was blue in color and appeared to be made of metal. You could see [longitudinal] seam lines. There was one black window…..it rose so quickly and was out of sight in just a few seconds. Our eyes could not follow it fast enough. This was certainly a fantastic thing”….”The surface appeared to be non-spectacular, like dull aluminum or metal, and blue, the color probably deriving from the self-luminous halo. Longitudinal seams were apparent, but no rivets or such were seen. The black rectangle was assumed to be a window and appeared to be recessed. It was not shiny, but “like the dark of night.” …Enough angular data was provided from building and landmark placement and sizes that it is possible to estimate the size of the metallic portion of the UFO at 16 to 20 feet in length, seen at a distance of 150 to 300 feet. Its linear speed was about 4 to 8 miles per hour, based on the above distances and timings obtained by re-enactment. It was visible for 4 minutes”….the observations are sufficiently detailed to give us adequate confidence that some sort of machine was present, behaving in a very extraordinary way. Some parts of the object are similar to other reports (the effervescent glow, the orange color on acceleration, the very black “window” (which sounds like a block-body absorber)). Other parts are unusual — the UFO’s prolate spheroidal shape and the pattern (although seeing the pattern would require the observer to be quite close)”….

It is this kind of sighting - the kind which is clearly inexplicable in contemporary terms, which causes me (and other interested persons) to take the whole subject so seriously. Hynek suggests that it is just this kind of sighting that often goes unreported, because the witness — especially if his education or training are appropriate — knows that what he saw was unambiguously extraordinary. And machine-like. A number of such reports were belatedly made after the University of Colorado study effort got underway. Apparently the witnesses waited for the respectability the UOC study brought to the subject. It is hoped that the scientific and intellectual climate will change to the point where witnesses, particularly those having the best qualifications, can feel free to report sightings and know that they are being taken seriously. ” (emphasis mine)

Frankly, these four reports could be culled from the database of 2009 reports too - except for the emphasis here (the report examples) on close up sightings (which also still occur but nowadays are almost `underground’ compared to `distant’ sightings).

Part 4 - Ufo’s — Phenomenological Aspects

The next section of the report is an analysis of the ontological phenomena known as ufo’s `gathered’ into three `views’ of the data:

The breakdown of NICAP’s 575 cases goes as follows

        Disc                            26 % 149      cases
        Round                           17 % 96      cases
        Oval/elliptical                 13 % 77      cases
        Cylindrical                     8.3 % 48      cases
        Triangular                      2 % 11      cases
Other (Radar, light source,     33.7% 194      cases

NICAP finds that of the 253 cases of daytime observations where color is stated, the results are

        Silver or metallic              34.8 % 88 cases
        White                           32.0 % 81 cases
        Specular                        13.4 % 34 cases
        Gray                            7.5 % 19 cases
        Black                           12.3 % 31 cases
Luminous rays are also reported, going up sometimes (particularly from domed
discs) downward (from hemispheric types principally, also from discs) and from
one UFO to another (spherical types). The luminous column is usually not
divergent. Excluding these interesting rays, the reported colors of UFOs seen
at night are, for 162 cases
        Red                             38.3 % 62 cases
        Orange                          15.4 % 25 cases
        Yellow                          17.3 % 28 cases
        Green                           13.0 % 21 cases
        Blue                            16.0 % 26 cases
        Purple                          0       0

The O’Hare Ufo Incident (part 5) - TWO New Videos Surface - Does It Matter?

Hello, welcome back to The Heavy Stuff  (THS) - I appreciate you hitting the link. As you may know, in the last 10 days or so, a `video’ of the 2006 O’Hare Ufo Incident made it’s way to YouTube along with a fairly detailed `explanation’ of the person who summited it. (All relevant links will be at the bottom of this post.) Then, within days, that person was contacted by another person who claimed to also `film’ the unexplained event that was in the process of occurring.

Perhaps it would be better to say that the `event’ was caught from two different angles  — but - both - taken with 2006 cellphone technology, or earlier. Indeed, both of the 50 or so second videos are so `primitive’ looking as to almost be funny to be the one thing presented to `prove’ the event occurred. That said,  both of the videos  offer some minimal detail and realness - including the take-off of a plane in the beginning frames of the one video. The `new video’ is taken from a completely different location further from the `event’ (the first original video is taken from a very severe angle underneath the craft).

And, as one might expect, immediately - naysayers appeared to refute the `video’ and, somewhat, the `story’ - but, what was surprising is that the first `take’ was given by a `ufo’ writer ——— not some skeptic crew. Indeed, the title of his article was `Hoaxers Are Getting Bored’ - and he based his view on ——— that of another person. (Which I found a little strange.) But, that person was - indeed - an `expert’ on the affair 2006 event having been part of the investigation by  National Aviation Reporting Center on Anomalous Phenomena - which produced a `negative’ report on the event in 2007.  And, that was not the only `expert’ who offered a negative take - the other is from the MUFON representative from Illinois.

But, perhaps we need to back up - and - shake our memories a little harder before the `videos’ are declared  fakes and the event - once again - pushed under the rug. So, in that regard — who remembers that when this `event’ surfaced that the CNN man was interviewing an airport worker cloaked in silhouette with voice distortion? I mean, how long before OR after has it been that you have seen a major news organization allow a person on-camera with such a story IN SILHOUETTE? This was the very definition of a hot story.

Perhaps some folks took the `event’ for what it was - extremely anomalous and very potentially a national security threat. After all, as I’ve made clear with long detailed points in my other posts, IF REAL, the `event’ was either a protocol of disclosure by a set of aliens; OR, a `blackmail threat’ by a superior group of humans not connected with a government organization. Very Very serious subject matter. (Even worse perhaps than connected to a government organization.)

So, is the YouTube poster - to be dissed for waiting? I don’t think so!

So, is the YouTube poster - to be dissed for not disclosing who they are now? I don’t think so! After all, to have the `angle’ presented - so underneath the `craft’ - could only mean - to me - that the person WAS ON THE AIRPORT GROUNDS OUTSIDE - ie: an airport employee - the very type of person said to have first reported the incident.

The next dismissal of the story - that the size was not congruent with previous `estimates’ of the craft (the YouTube poster said it was 100 meters) — he also said the craft was `closer-lower’ than - again - prior `estimates’ (which would make the craft appear larger). Indeed, lots of the criticism seems based on the `overcast’ and 1,700-1,900 ft cloud base level - and that the craft was described as `just below the cloudbase’.

But, do the naysayers as quickly forget that at least two different `sizes’ were given in all the initial reports too - one saying 30 ft or so and another saying 7 feet. Is it so hard to imagine that the `craft-event’ went up and down during the sighting - seeing how it `shot’ up thru the cloudbank to end the event (leaving a hole in the clouds).  What if the height `varied’ somewhat and the `real size’ of the `craft-event’ was 65 feet and the height level 1,350 feet — are we really gonna diss this whole thing based on a size estimate and height estimate (the YouTube poster put the craft at 700 ft, not the 1,700 of the initial report - which of course had no evidence.)?

Or, how about the outrageous suggestion that the craft was BOTH sizes - based on a cloaking manner - or ability to project into ones consciousness. Or that eye-witnesses seldom agree completely.

But, another thing also struck me. The `evidence’ that has literally trickled out prior to the latest - was not one or two photos; but, four or five pictures (see those in the links below) – which again - at the time, were quickly dissed. But, one thing ——————- those  photos support this NEW INFORMATION.

Indeed, if you check my links below you will see a `much bluer sky’ in one of the photos - and in some of the other ones - the photo seems to show the UFO in indeed a lower altitude than the 1,700 feet estimate. Memories can be short when the information was conflicting even at the time - but - now - with new information - perhaps more is beginning to really take shape.

Indeed, if you look at all the pieces and use some thoughtful mindfulness, and DON’T think hoax `first’ — than perhaps the information we have DOES make sense - regardless of reports and investigations.

Because, to me, IMHO - I think it looks like a `large object’ - of which I’d be hesitant to speculate based on the photo’s and videos - but, does look to be (truely guessing) to be up to 100 ft across - and at a lower altitude than 1,200 feet. Additionally, both video’s show a rotating disk, like some of the initial reports and at least one person of this new batch of info confirms the `shooting into the sky aspect’ of the final moments of the event.

So, that is how I see it. A little different than most perhaps - but - does anyone else provide you the very links of the evidence. But, then again, in this day and age - does the evidence even matter - when anything can be faked?

The Fortean Nature of Beckoning The Unknown - Expectations and Intentionality’s

In the last couple of days I’ve been surfing the net, as usual, to find material for my daily AnomalyMan listing on Squidoo. One place I always check out is www.anomalist.com as it’s overall point of view closely matches mine when describing `anomalous’ links of dubious natures. And, it’s two of those links that I have today on my Squidoo webpage (March 27th date) that set off my brain concerning the phenomenology of the ontological structure.

One of the links (all links will be at the bottom of this post) had to do with a MUFON investigator and his recording of a very anomalous `light in the sky at night’ experience that he interprets as Ufo Orbs and their Mothership - and indeed, the link will have pictures that will convince you too that the image explanation could be justified. What’s shown is one brighter light with an apparent connection to another series of `lights’ (different light filters show a golden shaped `interior’ craft).

The other link goes to the story of a serious  gentleman who actively is seeking some answers to the Bigfoot In America saga. And again, this time too, a seeker of the unknown was rewarded with the very thing desired - this time in the form of a 7 foot terrifying `monster’ with a voice which had a bellow beyond belief - and told in a manner that leaves little doubt as to its temporal occurrence to the observer.

So, when I read each of these stories, nearly in order, it set off my brain. Immediately, thoughts like - could `everything’ that is a space — like a human, comb, grass, robin, world, star, atom, — everything — which has a space and has a mass - and that exists IN an ontological structure — everything LIKE that — has one unifing characteristic - it is knowable. VERY KNOWABLE. (Can be measured.)

Then, my mind continued to turn over. Could `everything’ that is UNKNOWN have a space too? A `space’ which can be `called’ to be what it needs to be? To be what it HAS TO BE? (Whatisnotabletontobeis) And, could such `spaces’ only happen (or nearly only happen) when expectations and intentionality’s are raised and/or focused? When the `expectations’ of the `observer’ could trigger the intentionality’s of the `unknown space’?

Hence, MUFON investigators will see Ufo’s. Hence, Bigfoot investigators will see Bigfoots. Hence, Ghost investigators will find Ghosts. And EVP investigators — well, I think you get the idea by now. It seems that the will of the intentionality’s is all that is needed for a Fortean event of an Unknown nature to occur. (Could it be that the `intentionality’s’ come from the unknown when a `possession’ occurs of a human? Does the Unknown have some specific `spooky’ nature to it? A nature different than the Known - which might be `positive’ in some overall balance?)

And, if spirits can be beckoned in this manner (from the unknown) and Ufo’s too can be `beckoned’ — might the `nature’ of these two experiences really be able to be grouped together? Does this justify all the `nutcases’ that claim its the devil who is the ufo’s? (And, of course, this does not rule out nut and bolt ufo’s from existing along with all of us human beings - on our side of reality - in the known - because they have space.) Could this be why Prophet Yahweh could call a `light’ into the sky?

And, really, aren’t scientific discoveries actually similar? A seeker of the unknown - `finds’ the information - that one was seeking as a scientist. Would the `Ufo’s’ and `Bigfoot’s’ BE - information? Information in the rawest form?

A Information or intelligence `representation’  which has expectations and intentionalities? And, could the transfer of those expectations bring a `space’ together with that information base - which might even be able to occur,  and `act’ for a `real temporal’ event. Being infused with `knowledge’ for a moment(s). Being the very display of the unknown.

Aliens/Entities Objectified - Are There Four Types?

Hello, and welcome back to The Heavy Stuff (THS) - a blog to bookmark if you want speculation into realities greatest mysteries. Today’s posting is an offshoot of THS’s  post earlier last month http://theheavystuff.com/?p=99 - having to do with just how strange the whole `ufo’ experience can be to an individual or even a group of individuals. It was in that post that THS speculated that occasionally, and perhaps often,  a  `UFO experience’ may involve `different types’ of entities.

THS, when mentioning different entity types,  wasn’t referring about the internet speculation (with some added  fantasy perhaps) that multiple alien races are here, permenantly,  in Earth’s biosphere and are probably interacting with humans (some say dozens of races). No, what THS was and is referring to  is `spaces’* (entities) which do not have an equal `basis’ of `common reality’ grounding - compared to a human. (Wordy, THS knows, but we will get much more specific in a bit.) Let THS attempt to explain:

[* Remember, much of the Phillips Phenomenology (PP) positions `space’ as a characteristic which must be actualized for an event to occur. The PP describes `different types of spaces’ - and where they occur.]

Type One - Aliens/Entities

(Real & Travel In Craft)

Type One Properties —> Real `physical’ alien - in the same manner that a human is `physical’ . A being with a birth, and, on-going, contiguous,  `space-time’ reality - rooted in our same human perceived outer reality that we as humans consider a  `common consensus’ - considered by all to be called our `real’** ontology. Type One Aliens are beings that do NOT exceed the speed of light for travel and are beings that travel by craft. They are beings that do not need to `become objective’ to reveal `their reality of space’. They would be beings as trapped in our common reality as we humans are.

**[In other words, if a class of 100 college biology students were asked in an auditorium classroom if any of them thought the lecture was a `being dreamed’ as opposed to being experienced while awake - all would KNOW it wasn’t a dreamstate. (Then again with college students who knows, right?)]

Comment - To humans at our 2009 level of consciousness, these Type One Aliens are the most real and `humanlike’  of all alien types. `They’ will probably have arms, legs, a head, be able to communicate with each other - etc - humanlike characteristics of which humans can identify. Nevertheless, `aliens’ of any sort are inherently scary to most humans, of course.

However, type one beings that travel `anywhere’ in the universe ONLY below the speed of light - can be assumed to be rare; very rare - in ANY one particular location, including Earth. That said, being very rare - in a near infinite universe - does not mean non-existent or impossible. Indeed, while of low probability to be at any one location in the universe - this would be the alien/entity type MOST likely to have an interest in living planets like Earth.

But, would such beings, Type One beings,  be so focused as `being here’ only in the last 60 years? (Or would it be another type of the four entity/alien choices THS will review?) Wouldn’t such type one beings be just as likely to have been here, around Earth, for at least the last few hundred million years? You know, coming and going at will over the millenia - perhaps staying on occasion for eons.

Could we really expect that more than a  handful would be `around’ in any given era like ours? (If they did `stick around’ how many `aliens’ would they need to have a sustainable population?) Could we really expect a huge increase within a short period of 60 years, that we seem to have experienced,  from beings that use  `moving craft’ in a `galaxy’ context? (If there has been such an increase in the last 60 years.)

Indeed, the idea of a sudden increase in `this type’ of alien - a type one alien/entity - just seems unlikely, logically. Why? Well, first, T1 beings living below the `light threshold’ would not even have knowledge of mans recent advancements - outside of a 60 year light cone. Could there really be a significant number of civilizations within 60 years that have humanlike entities that have crafts that go a significant % of the speed of light? And who would want to come HERE if they did have such `slow’ `interstellar’ craft? It simply seems unlikely.

———————–

All that stated, doesn’t it seem possible that a few - repeat, a few - species of aliens may be camped out semi-permanently on Earth or nearby planets (if they do have near light-speed craft)? It does to THS - but - at the same time - it also seems logical that there AREN’T - large numbers of different types. We can all quibble about what constitues a large number  within a 60 year radius or permanent level of visitation on all `live planets’ in the universe. (Meaning that other planets with planet and animal life would be just as likely as Earth to have monitoring `type one’ aliens.)

It might be a cool blog post to speculate `how many’ craftable alien civilazations might be within any given 100 mile light year `radius’? Why? Because if an entity had access to the universe `above’ the speed of light — there exists little reason to `limit’ oneself to the `local’ 60 light year light cone. Which leads us to the next logical type of entity:

Type Two - Aliens/Entities

(Real and Travel Without Craft)

Type Two Properties –> Real physical alien - in the same manner as a human is physical and the type one alien. A being with a birth and an on-going `space-time’ reality - rooted in a common consensus with similar beings on a planet with a real ontology - just like humans and type one aliens. Beings that can EXCEED the speed of light for travel and do NOT travel by `craft/structure’ in the strict sense of the word. Beings that `become objective’ to reveal their reality on Earth. (Obviously, the `how’ part of this is the `science’ side - or - `consciousness’ side — the esoteric aspect. On the science side, perhaps humans/aliens/beings can create machines that can be `stepped into’ and as the outcome - provide `bi-location’ for the `space identity’. On the consciousness side - perhaps some beings with intelligence on some planet somewhere have been able to develop - just thru `mind’ focus — an ability to travel the universe — and in essence - `plant’  their `space’ elsewhere/elsewhen. To THS, both of these `new location experiences’ - would seem to be within the rhelm of possibility if the concept of `dopplegangers’ is real. If there is a `space’ which can `be representative’ within `another reality’ (not connected by the light cone to the original now) - then the `doppleganger’ may be just the `vehicle’ needed. IT WOULD ALSO EXPLAIN THE MANY MANY TIMES THAT ALIENS HAVE BEEN SAID TO JUST `VANISH’. Because, it’s not really `their space’ that is here at all. It would be like having perception from an out of body experience taken to the 10th degree. Frankly, it, this explanation, would also account for the great variety of `beings’ - indeed, those of type two that are more rooted in `science’ travel — may be limited in the way that they can `appear’ based on some specific `programming’ - ones `space’ could appear as perhaps an animal or non-similar entity that was originating the `signal’.

Comment - To humans in 2009 at our collective consciousness levels - these `forms’ or alien/entities - are perhaps the most mysterious - as they seem to be possibly `more real’ than `more spiritual entites - like Type 3 & 4′ (which we will cover soon). WHY? Because things that seem totally solid, totally here - and then can vanish — does not fit our normal consensus reality. Is this how a Bigfoot can be within 20 feet of a human and compel that human to search to find a `real Bigfoot’ - again - for the rest of their lives? Or, how `beings’ or entities can come out of, or go into, a `glowing slot’ of space - as seen on the Bigelow Ranch.

Doesn’t it seem likely that many of the experiences that are described as paranormal are really an encounter with these `enhanced’ Type Two creatures? Doesn’t this really seem to describe much of what is taken to be UFO’s - speeding away at unbelievable’ speeds? Indeed, if we are ready to be honest as thinking humans - this type to alien - literally from a different world with a `common now’ (meaning the alien or entities world does exist as a planet within our timecone) and `common spaces’ to our Earth — seems to be the `main type of alien/entity’ that we as humans have encounters. That is, if we base the `population’ on the actual number of `high strangeness - close encounters’. (Certainly, there are more `lights in the sky’ stories. Remember, lights in the sky stories are a dime a dozen and could involve machines or crafts built by humans within the governments and militarys of the world.)

Key characteristic of Type Two alien/entity — `travel’ of being is accomplished by `structure’ of temporarily increased consciousness level or `increase’ in space bi-location via some `science’ methodology that enhances that ability of bi-locate. For the entity that `travels’ the travel is temporary and `not’ the `normal state’ for such a being.

Type Three - Aliens/Entities

(`Real’, Travel without Craft, Do NOT Live On Any `Planet’ Surface)

These beings are `real’ in `quotation marks’ - and do not appear `as real’ (solid - in a quantitative sense) as the many close up sightings of legendary creatures such as a Bigfoot (a Type Two creature). That said, they may be viewed as appearing in any `shape’ from an Orb to a `translucent’ or ghost like being — ie - an entity that doesn’t appear `solid’ - and appears to have a light basis. Somehow, a human that encounters such a `being’ `knows’ that it isn’t real in our normal sense — and furthermore - doesn’t seem to be able to have a `permanent time’ within our reality common consensus. These beings/aliens/entities seem to be operating on the energy from the local environment.

While it’s possible that these entities see `themselves’ in some on-going manner - it’s equally likely that - these entities have NO on-going consciousness of their own space. There is no reason that both types may be part of Type Three. But, even for `spaces/entities’ that see themselves in an on-going manner — it’s hard to believe that these `spaces’ were ever `born’ or that they `live’ on a planet. Indeed, these type of `spaces’ seem `very local’ and very temporal - probably distorting the very localness and temporalness of common consensus that humans live within on Earth.

Indeed, these seem to be the creatures of `our own making’ - mythology -  and iconic shapes and feelings - that can form into temporary `translucent’ type of `solids’. The land of angels as a possible origin for this type of entity also. For, if these are not `super-local’ specialized consensus events, then - they must be `timeless’ beings that permeate everything. These are the `Godlike’ `guardian’ type entities that Mr. Bledsoe reported (my recent post covers this - http://theheavystuff.com  - and that many many people have reported over the years). Likewise, Mr. Bledsoe also reported entities (translucent) with glowing red eyes — this also would be a Type Three entity.

These type three entities are perhaps the most frightening to humans (with good reason) — as they appear to be powerful `locally’. These spaces seem to be part of the human condition encountered by only a few. The limited number of `possessions’ would seem to fall into this category in general. Entities `built’ by the dilemma of the human condition of needing to embrace despair.

Type Four - Aliens/Entities

(`Real’, Travel without Craft, Human based - alive and dead)

This type of entity is very similar to Type Three except that it has a `singular human’ basis - either `prior’ or `current’ - as opposed to Type Three being a more `common consensus space’ with energy generally supplied by living humans. Indeed, Type Four entities could often be thought of as Ghosts or in the most extreme rare circumstance `a real doppelganger’. These entities would tend to visit or at least be most perceivable to  humans or places they `knew’ when alive.

While poltergeist events can be scary - often `visits’ from these entities are spiritually uplifting and not frightening. And, unless `called’ these entities seem to be short lived and infrequent to often being a just `one time showing’ after death - to a loved one — and often only in a symbolic manner or in a dreamstate.

Nevertheless, most humans consider the Type Four entity to be real and of our very essence - even beyond our own humanness. Indeed, type four entities give the human race hope that we are more than just our physical bones - and thoughts - and that we too - may be connected to the entities of our universe that can travel.

The Federation Of Light, Prophet Yahweh, Used Car Lots, And, The 72 Hour Guarantee

Hello, and welcome back to today’s edition of The Heavy Stuff (THS) - today’s topic - the promise of UFO’s in the skies for 72 hours. Yes, believe it or not, a group calling itself The Federation of Light is predicting that next month, for 72 hours, UFO’s will hang in our Earths skies to prove they exist - and to propel earthlings into a new consciousness.

As you probably know, THS has a UFO website dealing directly with Ufo Disclosure www.ufodisclosurecountdownclock.blogspot.com and only last month we detailed that The Olympics, a world event, would seem to be a natural time for purposeful UFO disclosure should `the aliens’ want to give earthlings that `needed proof’. And, of course, the aliens did not show up.

Regardless, that hasn’t stopped the Federation of Light (FOL) from predicting that Oct 08 is the timeframe for the long predicted, some would say hoped for, event. It is in uncertain times like this that many would seek for someone, something, to have the answers to all of humanities problems - and the FOL is hardly the first to predict the aliens will choose to `show themselves’.

The interesting thing of interest to THS when first reading this was the commonalities the prediction had with a particular man called Prophet Yahweh just over three years ago. If you don’t remember that, the Prophet, who claimed to have `called spaceships’ over 1,500 times - was being interviewed live on a Las Vegas TV station when he indeed appeared to `call a spaceship’ after a prayer. The TV reporter seemed astonished - here’s that link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fMcvAvrjmA - it’s 1:58 of video that will amaze you.

As you saw, the TV station picked the time and place for the `calling’ and after the prayer indeed a `orb’ or `light’ appeared in the sky and was recorded on video. The result of that exposure made Prophet Yahweh an instant celebrity and he boldly predicted that he would be able to call the `spaceships’ for 72 hours over the coming July 4th holiday. It was that 3 day guarantee that caught THS’s attention with this new claim by the FOL.

Obviously, UFO’s didn’t sit over the Vegas skies in 2005 for three days, and therefore the Prophet faded from public interest. However of interest was that THS (meaning the editor of THS, before THS existence) exchanged a number of e-mails with the Prophet. Below is an excerpt of one of those e-mails from our files:

In my opinion, you certainly have earned the right to reveal what you
have researched and what you believe to be important. I know that
because you say that Yahweh provides you these `events’ you believe
the voice in your head as you see the visable outcome (and so do
others). This is indeed beyond what even a David Blaine has been able
to do as far as suspend others beliefs as to what is possible.

Have you hit up Ted Serios yet on Google?

Sir; I ask you to consider that I MAY BE RIGHT as to why the
SUMMONING events occur at your `command’ (or Yahweh’s). You have, in
whatever manner, been able to generate what I’d like to call `a
tangible belief’ that `becomes an event’ — that is then `able to be
videotaped’. Sir; I beg your indulgence to consider that what occurs
MAY have a basis in reality that at best is only partially related to
`Yahweh’ but 100% connected to you. All thru your beliefs and
intentionalities which `set up’ moments of `tangible phenomena’ which
is `transient in nature’. I’m sorry to say — that very unique
ability may have nothing to do with religion at all —— or this
whole business about `which religion is right or wrong’.

That said, you are indeed a challenge to the `power structure’ –
especially if your focus is JUST getting the idea of Yahweh across.
After all, their beliefs don’t have someone doing the impossible for
the cameras.

In some of THS’s early posts we speculated that what actually is being `put into the skies’ or may being seen in the skies — are what is commonly called `orbs’ — but what THS refers to as `Tulpa’s’. THS literally believes that it is possible to `set up’ `consciousness balls’ for viewing - but that the Tulpas only have `so much energy’ and eventually `fade out’. (Which is why none hang in the skies for days on end.)

Which brings us back to the FOL claims about the upcoming event they predict. Once again, we see an attempt to `set up expectations’ about 50 days in advance of THE BIG EVENT. It makes one wonder that if the FOL’s point of view is disseminated enough - and has enough `believers’ - that perhaps some sort of an event may occur.

For example, would it be possible that `while sleeping’ enough of these worldwide believers could somehow summon a common `lucid dream’  of a UFO in the sky? And, that IF it happened the `belief’ would `grow’ into an ongoing event? ———– Don’t hold your breath.

No, instead, like all the endtimers before them, those who predict a certain date, in the future, for ANY event - are nearly certain to be disappointed. Indeed, it’s much like believing the words of a used car salesman and his promise of a 72 hour guarantee.

Thanks for reading. Make sure to bookmark and return often. You can find that FOL link on my anomalies site dated Sept. 5th at www.squidoo.com/anomalyman or if you want UFO videos and more go to our other site www.squidoo.com/anomalies.

Does `Strange Highness’ Overlap High Strangeness?

The Heavy Stuff (THS) welcomes you back for another mind excursion (do you remember the 1960’s ` psychedelic quartet’ Tradewinds version?) into the very fabric of speculation about realities mysteries  - today’s topic - strange highness. Yes, you read that right.

Strange Highness is THS’s proposed new term,  and, is not the same as the common Fortean term of `High Strangeness’, or, is it? Indeed, one will find by reading excepts below that both `strange highness’ and `high strangeness’ seem to have some, or perhaps many, overlapping spaces.

First, just a few words about High Strangeness (this should be familiar to most THS readers we know). Frankly, if you are not familiar with the term it’s one of googles best searches; you will be gone on a several hour reading trip if you have never researched the term. And, to summarize in a few examples is impossible - (but) it can be as simple as fish falling out of the sky; to, a Bigfoot that vanishes in front of your eyes; to, a Ufo landing where the alien walks up to you and asks what time it is; to, being rescued by a tow-truck that leaves no tracks in the snow.

You get the idea - impossible(ish) events in `normal consciousness’. Indeed, all these examples have one thing in common - NO drug descriptions - these are all described by `normal’ folks who are not `hitting the bottle’, or for that matter, any other substances. Right?

After all, if it was the `rantings’ of a USER - the credibility is gone - right? Objectivity would be ruled to be not in play. So, for those that report `strange events’ - a persons `straightness’ - is what makes them High Strangeness. Isn’t that strange?

But, of course, other folks have `impossible events’ too - while under the influence.

Specifically, while under the influence of `mind altering substances’ - indeed, `reality altering substances’ - leading to the area of space THS wants to now refer to as `Strange Highness’. Specifically, strange highness will refer to the esoterica and entities which have been supposedly encountered when credible humans enter `altered states of consciousness’ - via substances.

It should also be mentioned that the experiences described below of the extremes of what could occur when using mind altering substances — are NOT the norm; probably with any of the substances. Most reactions to these substances at minimal dosage are tolerable to enjoyable for most folks interested in such experiences. That said, again, extreme `reactions’ can occur at `normal’ dosage too - discouraging, wisely, the majority of humans from usage of any of these substances - even liquor only scratches 50% users. So, it should be noted that  THS wants to look closer at only those rare space occurrences - of strange highness.

Indeed, the examples are so numerous the question is -  where to begin….. Perhaps the first mention should go to the research done on DMT at the University of New Mexico in the 1990’s and the findings that suggest some experiences are very similar to the description of alien abductions – some users had simulated encounters with entities not of our normal consensus of thought.  Here’s a quote from Wikipedia about the substance that was man-made first in 1931:

Several subjects also reported contact with ‘other beings’, alien like, insectoid and reptilian in nature, in technological environments[6] where the subjects were ‘probed’, ‘tested’ and sometimes even ‘manipulated’ by these ‘beings’ (see Abduction phenomenon).

”technological environments” - love that terminology.  And all this - right in the lab -so to speak. Strange Highness Indeed.

And, the bad news for those that want to believe in alien abductions out of ones bed - is that most likely, their brain (the abductee) supplied the `space’ for the event. That is NOT to suggest that the person didn’t experience the event OR that the event wasn’t REAL at some `real’ level. Just that the `event’ did not likely occur outside of the bedroom walls.

Additionally, this does NOT really address the much rarer `abduction reports’ that occurs in public places - supposedly (nearly always at night of course in lonely areas - with strong exceptions such as Travis Walton’s experience).

So, because of the similarities of DMT and the abduction experience the verdict is that at least one aspect of High Strangeness can be `explained’ by the Strange Highness Spaces of  extreme substances. But that is only one example of many.

Such as, of course, the many word of mouth stories, decades ago,  of the preferred hallucinogen of the 1960’s - LSD.  From the noting by users of changes to the normal perceptual landscape (moving walls, sharper colors, impossible objects) for an individual - to `shared realities’ with other trippers (shared landscapes not of this world) - the product-chemical,  produced spaces with , indeed, strange highness. Again, quoting Wikipedia:

Some psychological effects may include an experience of radiant colors, objects and surfaces appearing to ripple or “breathe,” colored patterns behind the eyes, a sense of time distorting (time seems to be stretching, repeating itself, changing speed or stopping), crawling geometric patterns overlaying walls and other objects, morphing objects, a sense that one’s thoughts are spiraling into themselves, loss of a sense of identity or the ego (known as “ego death“), and powerful, and sometimes brutal, psycho-physical reactions interpreted by some users as reliving their own birth.[9][40] Many users experience a dissolution between themselves and the “outside world”.[41]This unitive quality may play a role in the spiritual and religious aspects of LSD. The drug sometimes leads to disintegration or restructuring of the user’s historical personality and creates a mental state that some users report allows them to have more choice regarding the nature of their own personality.Higher doses often cause intense and fundamental distortions of sensory perception such as synaesthesia, the experience of additional spatial or temporal dimensions, and temporary dissociation. While THS could point at many of the above descriptions - THS would like to focus on the LSD chemical interaction `disrupting time’ (and space, things) — this is long before the `missing time’ syndrome or experience reported with some remembered `high strangeness’ - and UFO experiences too. So, time-distortion, literal distortion - can be said to be shared between strange highness, and its counterpart, high strangeness. (Is it the Matrix, yet?)Certainly, other researchers have pointed at other extremes of plant-chemical usage by third world indigenous tribes of various areas.

Perhaps the most familiar substance to produce the shaman effect is Ayahuasca - a drink or mixture made out of a local vine in South America. After being popularized in media culture, various celebrities have made the trek to try the  vine drink with the natives - it even is a tourist draw to have experiences described like this (again from Wiki):

But after forcing down the foul-tasting brew, she was catapulted to a place so dark her husband feared he had ‘lost his wife to the world of spirits’. Her life flashed before her as the hallucinogen took hold. She faced demons, saw herself as a terrified four-year-old and curled up on the floor, shivering, retching and muttering for two days.

‘I think I went through an experience of death at a certain point, when I was no longer a body or a soul or a spirit or anything,’ Allende says matter-of-factly. ‘There was just a total, absolute void that you cannot even describe because you are not. And I think that’s death.’

Nevertheless, the process proved transformative. Allende emerged aching but lucid and was able to complete [a trilogy she was writing], now being adapted for film by the co-producers of The Chronicles of Narnia.

Demons anyone? Straight or Altered consciousness?

Additionally, Native Americans (and so would say traditional Hippies and Heads) have known for time immemorial  that chewing certain mushrooms or ingesting peyote buttons, - can lead to spaces of special enlightenment - here’s how Wiki describes that:

The effects of psilocybin are often pleasant, even ecstatic, including a deep sense of connection to others, confusion, hilarity, and a general feeling of connection to nature and the universe. Bad trips may occur when psychedelic compounds are taken in a non-supportive or inadequate environment, by an inexperienced person, in an unexpectedly high dose (see: set and setting), or when the substance triggers difficult areas of one’s psyche.

At low doses, hallucinatory effects occur, including walls that seem to breathe, a vivid enhancement of colors and the animation of organic shapes. At higher doses, experiences tend to be less social and more entheogenic, often catalyzing intense spiritual experiences. For example, in the Marsh Chapel Experiment, which was run by a graduate student at Harvard Divinity School under the supervision of Timothy Leary, almost all of the graduate degree divinity student volunteers who received psilocybin reported profound religious experiences

Strange Highness, Indeed.

Once again, the link here could be described as the ONENESS felt by the `straight’ high strangeness experiencer - and the - `non-straight’ experiencer of strange highness. Seems the altered states can be reached via either avenue of ones approach to ones consciousness. Whether the outcome is demons or oneness.

But all those areas of `strange highness’ can be beyond the reach of the average person who doesn’t know the difference between a tomato plant and a squash plant - or who doesn’t forage for native plants - or  who wants to travel to strange lands. That would be most of us, right?

So, how about, the legal stuff - and it’s links to Strange Highness –  THS will start with the result of the nations most popular mind altering substance - liquor - but, not just liquor - extreme liquor usage - the DT’s - here’s a description - quoting Wiki:

DT’S - The main symptoms are confusion, disorientation and agitation and other signs of severe autonomic instability. Other common symptoms include intense hallucinations such as visions of insects, snakes or rats (or stereotypically, pink elephants). These may be related to the environment, e.g., patterns on wallpaper that the patient would perceive as giant spiders attacking him or her. Unlike hallucinations associated with schizophrenia, delirium tremens hallucinations are primarily visual, but associated with tactile hallucinations such as sensations of something crawling on the subject - a phenomenon known as formication

In reading about the outer edge of the liquor stupor and bugs - one is reminded that other drugs have outer limit  stupors that include huge Praying Mantislike creatures. Or, is all this - the bugs on the skin - nothing more than the DNA memories of beings who woke up in caves 700 generations ago with bugs crawling on their faces - the memories of FEAR. Even the fear of being eaten by more larger more formidable species.

Also, as another example and still legal in many parts of the country and the world is the new buzz substance being read about in many newspapers - with lawmakers scrambling to `protect’:

Salvia Divinorum” quotes Daniel Siebert’s summarisation, mentioning that the effects may include:[35]

An example of salvia-inspired Visionary art

An example of salvia-inspired Visionary art

  • Uncontrollable laughter.
  • Past memories, such as revisiting places from childhood memory.
  • Sensations of motion, or being pulled or twisted by forces.
  • Visions of membranes, films and various two-dimensional surfaces.
  • Merging with or becoming objects (for example a Ferris wheel).
  • Overlapping realities, such as the perception of being in several locations at once.

A survey of salvia users found that 38% described the effects as unique. 23% said the effects were like yoga, meditation or trance

THIS DOES NOT SOUND LIKE SOMETHING FOR JUST ANYONE AND IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT - JUST AN EXAMPLE.

Finally, there are, of course, reports of `crazy folks’ literally using toxins and poisons (this is complete sickness - some would say that to use any of them would be crazy and dangerous) - to reach so-called enlightened states of being with one’s consciousness. Areas, places, spaces, where special knowledge supposedly exists. And all, in the land (space) of Strange Highness.

And nearly all of them  - illegal in most states and countries. Indeed, do not venture into the land of Strange Highness - as it may just be the space - that abutts the land of High Strangeness.

Are Tulpas Everything Esoteric?

It’s only in the last few years that THS has really become aware of Tulpas and the possibility that Tulpas may explain certain types of fortean events. Indeed, once in awhile other blog posts speculate in the same manner. This will be the focus of this Heavy Stuff.

As most readers of THS (The Heavy Stuff) know, this blog supports our Anomalies, ParaNormal, and Mind Perceptions website on Squidoo.com — and that site has a small daily listing of esoteric(like) links — similar to great websites like www.thedailygrail.com and www.anomalist.com . Interestingly, this link http://www.binnallofamerica.com/gm1.22.8.html is also written by a woman who has a website of anomalies links like those above (she also has other blogs) and mine — we share common interests obviously - and it’s of interest that tulpas are one of them. Perhaps, only goofy editors like THS, Leslie, Rick Stokes of anomalist.com and others who run similar sites have an interest in such `esoteric’ explanations - but - here is THS’s `take’ - once again - on Tulpas.

First, some words to provide a basis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulpa for this discussion.

Tulpas have been associated with Tibetan mysticism - and seem `to be’ - thoughtforms — generated by human consciousness — and that some of these `created spaces’ can take on an extended `life’ (time) with intentionality’s. So, again, consciousness, creating a space, that has `time’/duration — and may - by existing — produce independent intentionality’s.

Believe it or not, in the pre-hype of the Prophet Yahweh controversy a few years back THS’s writer had direct e-mail exchanges with the Prophet. If you are not familar with P.Y. he claimed that he had been `calling spaceships’ into the sky for decades and that he was going to call one to hover in the Las Vegas skies for 45 days straight — thereby enlightening the world about `flying saucers’ and his particular powers to call these ships. P.Y. indeed, had the incredible ability to `call’ one of these orbs `on-demand’ when interviewed by a local Las Vegas station on live TV — causing the reporter to be astonished and the gov’t to deny having anything on radar, etc.

What happened, or was shown on TV, was a `light’ suddenly being in the sky way way up — and this `light’ started moving rapidly and seemingly independently — all the while picked up by the video camera and described by the excited reporter. However, because of THS’s interest in Ufo’s, we had already been aware of another gentleman out in California who would `go out daily’ and `film ufo’s’ — all he had to do was set up his video camera, wait, and look into the sky and vo-la — there was a `ufo’. (His `ufo’s’ would also last for a few minutes but fade away eventually too. Like P.Y.’s did.) To, THS, these two events seemed totally similar. This THS writer contacted P.Y. — and told him of the California guy `doing’ the same thing — BUT — NOT claiming that HE himself was `doing’ it — like P.Y.  was claiming.

But, being inquisitive and seeking connections - eventually yielded the information on Tulpas to THS. The revelation was that Tulpas fit exactly what P.Y. was able to `do’ — it seemed that years of prayer had indeed somehow seemed to fuse his consciousness with enough `belief’ / `power’ - that he indeed was able to project a `conscious space’ into existence. The same is true for the guy out filming daily in California — he built the belief daily too - just like P.Y. — only he couldn’t fully believe it was a representation of him and his beliefs that it would happen.

Now, to some of Leslie’s points and speculations - and other points too. First, THS agrees that tulpas are mis-identified as `UFO’s’ — after all - both are `lights in the sky’. Both are `light spaces’. Both move in the sky. Not only that, some `lights in the sky’ seemingly transform into solid objects. That said, THS’s thinks Tulpas and `lights that turn into UFO’s’ are  two different phenomena.

First, Tulpas are said to be `independent’ once created by a human. Therefore, THS thinks the speculation that folks watching a Tulpa could transform it into a UFO to be misguided. Tulpas simply seem to move, perhaps with intention and last a few minutes. Then disappear. Tulpas, light spaces, do not have the energy to continue indefinitely or transform because of their limited duration. It’s why P.Y. could not put one in the sky for 45 days — it’s why — when a Tulpa is observed in the sky — that it fades eventually, regardless of how many may be observing it. (Point being, energy is not being supplied by human consciousness after formation in THS opinion.)

THS has also pointed out the seeming overlap of Tulpas and Orbs. It seems that orbs are little more than Tulpas NOT in the sky — but - near the ground. Therefore, Tulpas and Orbs may indeed be the same phenomena — once again, orbs don’t last indefinitely — or transform into things (at least not too often, lol). Indeed, they seem very similar. BUT, THS would like to provide another explanation for `balls of light’ `balls of light that have space’ — and that is — Orbs - could be `dead beings’.

THS will say it again; Orbs could be the literal materialization of `beingness’ after death. Perhaps the highest state that an enlightened person who dies can archive is `being an Orb’. Literally becoming a `light being’ contained within that luminous ball. `Living’ somewhere in the virtual particles that constitute most of the reality structure. Perhaps on occasion having the power `to display’ or on occasion `displaying’ when `called’ by folks thinking esoteric thoughts.

But, THS would draw the line on Tulpas molding into some quasi-real object — such as a UFO without `real gadgets or workings’. That stated Leslie, what a cool concept - worthy of a science fiction storyline.

The Heavy Stuff does not think authorities are finding semi-quasi-real Tulpa objects — that are not able to be explained. That said, Tulpas, as Leslie stated — may be behind some things esoteric. Like Ufo sightings and Orb sightings.

Is Earth, Are Humans, Worthy of Visitations?

Filed under: Ufo's, Nearby Stars, Stephenville Ufo, Huge Ufo, Big Media, UFO Incidents — Rick @ 9:12 am

In lieu of what could be nearly called a UFO `wave’ in Texas this month, and, with huge objects in the sky in general too (3 circumstances at least now this month alone) perhaps this post - which I had been working on over the last few weeks - is not needed. I say that because perhaps the last few months have been as active as we’ve seen the media coverage of the UFO matter be in a long time. And, now, the coverage of the HUGENESS of the Stephenville Ufo seems to take the `ufo thing’ beyond pilfered Black Budgets, and back engineering, and into the Crypto-unknown.

Now, of course, just because the media is covering something at any given moment, hardly means it isn’t or hasn’t been an on-going thing. The kidnapped child is only one of 100’s at any given moment. The unsolved murder is only one of 1000’s at any given moment. Likewise with Ufo reports. So, the media’s relative interest of late doesn’t make the `phenomena’ REAL or newly unique. Indeed, UFO hugeness has been reported before.

Yet, that said, a few folks continue in some quarters to make the case that the phenomena ISN”T explained by `aliens from this planet or other planets’. Hey, fair enough - but - lets look at an articulation of that viewpoint.

Specifically, the RRR Group, posted a blog entry - the link is here http://ufocon.blogspot.com/2007/12/ufos-cosmology-flaw.html. Within a day or so - another blog had this response - http://alienworldsmag.blogspot.com/2007/12/ufos-and-irrelevant-arguments.html .. Please take the time to read these blogs - then return.

THS would like to comment specifically now about some comments within the RRR posting.

Earth is too insignificant to attract alien beings in flying saucers”

THS’S COMMENT - While we can quibble about the description - many of the `things in the sky’ seem to have a semi-standard structure that resembles `flying saucers’ or a `similar model’. SO, obviously, the statement about not attracting flying saucers on the face of it is false. Why flying saucers are here is indeed a question - of which the probable reason is that it is that we are indeed (or the Earth is indeed) `not insignificant’. Sorry — to THS - both of these statements, which begin the whole post — are not in THS’s opinion - accurate - or worth basing a whole posting defending.

RRR ” The Earth is infinitesimally small in the cosmological context, and without vibrant attractive features. Even the water element is trivial by observational standards

THS - Since very large planets have overwhelming gravity that might prohibit `life’ emerging to a humanoid level — would they be a focus? No. Smaller planets might have similar life forms to life forms that would be traveling in (using RRR’s term) `flying saucers’. And, the water element trival - OH PLEASE.    Again — THS’s verdict on the comment — bogus.

But, the RRR post continues with near non-sense - consider.

RRR - ” Unless UFO inhabitants have technologies that enable “them” to ferret out minerals or liquids that they need or find interesting — and no UFO has exhibited such advanced technology – the Earth would remain invisible to them”

THS - UFO’s, whatever they are - have been long reported near power lines and nuclear facilities — would that not be ferreting out `minerals’ ? And obviously, we are NOT invisible to whatever is operating the crafts. Once again, THS’s verdict on the comment - bogus.

But, it doesn’t stop there - the strangely thought out post continues with this:

RRR - ” Alien explorers scouring the Universe or just our galaxy alone would miss the Earth by virtue of Earth’s inconsequentiality”

THS - Oh, come on —- if LIFE is on-board these crafts — they would be well aware which of the planets would be of interest to things with LIFE. Obviously, Earth fits the billing. (Unless they really liked frozen atmospheres - or the seemingly lifeless surfaces of Venus or Mars or Mercury). Obviously, if they wanted diverse life forms. Obviously, if they wanted to interact with `things’ that may have freewill or self-determination. Then, obviously, Earth is the one planet of very most interest within 25 trillion miles - THS thinks that POINT alone would certainly justify exploration.  THS verdict - goofy.

Continuing:

RRR - ” But Earth-centric ufologists still think that this planet is a beacon of some kind that has attracted interplanetary visitors since time immemorial”

THS - The characteristics of life have been around this planet for several hundred million years - if such lifeforms are cruising around the universe for the last 7 or so billion years (advanced life off of second-third generation stars) - they may very well have come by in the last 400 million years. Also, to THS, mankind’s murky beginnings leave much to be speculated about and indeed, old artifacts may indeed point to a time when `other humanoids’ may have `occupied’ this planet for a time. VERDICT — more likely than not Earth has been monitored in some manner.

Continuing:

RRR - ” Sure, the UFO phenomenon exists, but would better be explained by time travel (from the past or future) or even a parallel universe or existence.”

THS - Now, THS knows that RRR’s poster is on weak logic. IF the past could be changed would it have been real when it occurred? - NO - I think we can rule out `flying saucers’ being from the past. FUTURE? - Oh, please, — whose’s future may THS ask? Can the future have meaning when the only `actions’ occur in the present. What gobbledygook. NO, RRR, `they’ don’t come from the past or future. VERDICT - goofy. Parallel universe? - IF by that RRR means within the `current’ and perhaps be referring to higher dimensions or vibrations within that `current’ —- PERHAPS — Finally, RRR, made one comment not totally goofy.

RRR - ” And the vast number of UFO sightings and varying craft configurations (if real) indicate a sizable presence that means some alien culture has an inordinate interest and exploratory fleet available to waste time in Earth’s skies, or a slew of alien cultures have stumbled upon Earth and have been intrigued enough, to the detriment of all other planets in the galaxy or Universe, to remain on scene for millennia, and to what purpose?”

THS - THS would dispute the categorizing as a `sizable presence’ and assumes that alien life would find humans worth the study since we seem to be the influential species on the planet - who are in a mode within the last 65 years of altering the planets very orbit (with hydrogen bombs) in the universe. IF more than one species is monitoring — the sizable presence becomes just commonsensical. AND, since there probably isn’t life like we have within 24 trillion miles — perhaps that is the reason they are staying. VERDICT - the outcome of faulty premises.

RRR - ” An argument can be made that UFOnauts are loopy and we human beings can’t fathom their thought processes or modus operandi”

THS - Finally, a point that can be agreed with — indeed - beings, who are possibly BILLIONS of years more advanced - may indeed, have thought processes or operations we don’t understand.

RRR- “That’s a possibility we admit, but hoping for a relief from Earth’s woes by such obtuse creatures makes little sense also.”

THS - What whining. THS certainly isn’t hoping for `relief’ from `obtuse creatures’. And, why would beings who have a history BILLIONS of years long be `obtuse’? While some indeed hope the aliens come and establish order or take us to heaven or replace oil with free energy — that is hardly the reason folks end up seeing these craft — or is that what RRR is saying?

RRR - “And if flying saucers were or are an invading vanguard, the procrastination bespeaks something not sinister but inept”

THS -  THS agrees - THS doubts this is an invasion to take over the world - SO - it isn’t sinister in that regard and isn’t inept in that regard. To call an intelligence that can move a craft to amazing speeds inept - speaks for itself.

RRR - “No, cosmology doesn’t allow for alien or interplanetary UFOs, so the mystery has to be explained in some other way….or dismissed out of hand as worthy of further attention, which we’ve been advocating for some time now.”

THS - It should be noted that elsewhere in the post that RRR indicated NOT believing in `flying sauces’ being `Earth-based’ — THS assumes this is because RRR would have to admit they got here somehow.

Anyway - THS’s view is that interplanetary travel might indeed be possible at even less than light speed with `intelligent machines’ that have billions of years to preform the original purpose they were designed for. Additionally, THS’s view is that IF `humaniod’ intelligence is within a reasonable distance - say 50 light years - that it’s possible that a very limited amount of entities within that distance (several hundred - to thousand suns of varying power - 233 are within 30 light years including the low powered stars) may develop travel abilities within that kind of distance even with crafts of less than light speed. That said, a dimensionality of the here-now, is likely the `source’ of these `objects-entities’ — and all this talk of distance and time is nearly meaningless.

Bottom line — Earth is worthy of visitations. Humans are worthy too.
