The Heavy Stuff

One of the `esoteric takeaways’ of the 1960’s and 70’s was the `tree-hugging’ phrase - “Be Here Now”. And, frankly, ultimately, it had a lot of `meanings’ - from the non-attachment of Zen, to a `re-connecting’ with the environment and spirituality, to a `self-centering’ - awareness and meditation connotation - and even more. It was a `hip’ thing to say (or - to say that you were `doing’).

(This would actually be `not-doing’ to those `into’ Carlos Castaneda.)

Anyway, that phrase BHN entered my mind again the other week and this post has been brain bubbling since then - so - let’s see how my mind treats this today. And, as you might expect - my mind generally has been mauling over the whole Phenomenology aspect of the phrase first - both in relation to `science’ and my so called Phillips Phenomenology. (see my categories (labels)  on this page for much more about PP)

The first `science’ thing that comes into my mind - is - of course, the shear impossibility to BE HERE NOW - as `all nows’ pass and have NO duration; and our actual `here’ is moving at an incredible rate of motion. All while being the pinpoint of the time-cone - with that exact balance of the actualized past `picking’ the next actualized space (the now) of the `future’.

Indeed, if we just consider THE REAL SPACE - that one (humans) occupied as matter — the `space’ that `was you’ - an instant ago ———- has truly `moved’ hugely. 

Do you know the reason?

Well, we are `traveling’ on a planet that is `rotating’; we are `traveling’ on a planet that is moving in rotation around a star; and we are `traveling’ as part of that stars rotation around OUR galaxy; and we are `traveling’ as part of the Milky Way’s `movement’ in a particular direction that all local galaxies are moving in. EVERY SECOND. Every Moment. (Indeed, I once added all this movement up and it is a large portion of 1% of the speed of light - every instant. The `here’ of `our last instant’ is `miles’ from the actual location of the `here’ of `this, our current instant’.)

So, that should put to rest in your mind that what we perceive as a permanent local space - is ONLY so - because it (every object within)  ALSO is moving at the same rate. We are matter spiraling thru space points - and have NO claim to a HERE in the human mind sense of the term. Indeed, only the `counting’ of the here’s of our space/matter - provides us with a `now’ or more precisely, a here-now,  at all.

And, before I even get to the `now(ish)’ - lets look at how human consciousness might fit into the words of this BHN phrase.

Certainly, the best connection of human consciousness lies in its own `beingness’.Beingness of the actualized past; beingness of the unactualized past; beingness of the actualized future (now); beingness of the `unactualized’ (referred to as the) future.

A beingness of `our space’ (body/matter) - a beingnessof `our minds’ (sense-knowingness of actualized memory, sense-knowingness of actualized now, sense-knowingness of actualized fantasy) - but most of all - a Beingness of Determinism via self-knowingness.

Indeed, we ARE, - our being IS, - because we KNOW the determinism we experience of space-time-and our consciousness - as only a BEING with a Ontological Knowingness can. BEINGS with ontological knowingness determine the `what is not able to not be’. That is, at least concerning their own perception structures of other SPACES (the not able to be) and other TIMES (the able to not be) - internally or externally.

(But spaces ARE NOTHING (not able to be) without duration (time - able to not be(ness) and time IS NOTHING without space to be (time needs to give a space it’s able to not be(ness) to MAKE - the determined Not Able To Not Be ————— that we call reality.

Finally, lets talk about what science has told humans about their consciousness of `our external senses of now’. First and foremost, research indicates that humans `see’ about 100 or so `frames’ of our external reality each second - YET - our consciousness picks about 8-12 of these and `molds them’ into a flowing reality for perception purposes. (Not only that - reality itself - turns on and turns off - trillions of times in that frame of reference.) I won’t even mention that what we `see’ in our brain is upside-down and the whole process needs to be righted for our senses.

But, even more important than that - at least to me - is that EVERYTHING we see —- all objects ——- are objects from the PAST — as the light that bounces off objects - which allows us to sense them -  has taken (time)(or a counted space)  to reach our retina. Time which MAKES that datum a PAST, a determined past that is UN-alterable as to its location or time of its data being sent by the light bounce.

So, if EVERYTHING outside of us is FROM the past (to us)  and is Now(ish) —- isn’t the best a human can do is - Be Here Nowish?

Hello, welcome to The Heavy Stuff (THS) - thanks for visiting. Recently, THS has been examining what I call the `cracks’ in the reality structure. I’ve noted in my last post (Anomalous Realities - The Cosmic Crack http://theheavystuff.com/?p=117) two examples of such `reality cracks’ that seem to allow `perceptions’ that are non-ordinary. The two examples, which I’ve talked about often, were the appearance of `physical’ Doppelgangers `into’ our so-called normal reality consensus - and - the `physical reality’ that is shared by people who underwent Mutual Hypnosis under Dr. Charles Tart in the 1960’s (and one would assume afterwards - but the searches for mutual hypnosis are quite bare).

My so-called `take’ on the `paranormal’, I find, is quite different from others who are interested in or who are `experiencers’ of the `non-ordinary states’ which include non-ordinary perceptions. To begin with, I am not religious in any normal sense of the word; I was raised Atheist, and am an Agnostic. Therefore, perhaps, my access to `structures of perception’ that seem to include everything from Saints, Angels, Guardians - to Jesus and the Devil himself - has never revealed any of `it’s’ (religions) paranormal perception structure to me.

BUT, as you know, deep believers - and even those occasionally NOT believers - have claimed to have had `visions’ (perceptions) which include everything from `God sent’ miracles (show me a sign) to `actual’ appearances of these iconic `beings-entities’. Indeed, looking at a list of such non-ordinary events would put these `structures of being’ IN OUR `so-called REAL reality of ordinary consensus’ - AND - put HUMANS `INTO’ `their religious rhelm’ (I was sitting at Jesus’s feet).

Likewise, at least to me, the same can be said of those that `experience’ a Bigfoot - or - some other UNKNOWN entity that seems to have and be of a `temporal character’ only. (I’m always reminded of Husserl at this point, with his chapter title - The Transformation Of Ideas Through Temporal Characters http://theheavystuff.com/?p=74.) Obviously, Ghosts(in at least one sense), Gremlins, Stickmen, Mythical Beasts, Fairies and others fall into the same phenomena. (Is it too hard for esoteric thinkers of my website to understand that these entities would be virtually identical to Doppelgangers - in a phenomenology sense?)

Which brings me to another ontological crack of phenomenology - the so-called - missing time experience; one of the memes of the whole `alien abduction’ experience. And, as my regular readers may remember - I’ve blogged about this in my highly original post on THS called `The Missing Space Of Missing Time Experiences’ - http://theheavystuff.com/?p=25 - AND, while I have alluded to it before - I have had a `missing time’ experience(s) with two other people who experienced the same time loss (as we were all together). (If you go to the first post of this website I tell that I’ve had wo-wo experiences of many types - only slowly am I revealing them - as frankly, to me, it’s the `structure of the non-consensus realities’ that is of more interest to me.) This mutual `special consensus, non-ordinary event’ `left NO footprint’ of phenomenology in any of our consciousnesses - and yes, once, many years later (and about 5 years ago) I underwent `hypnosis’ to see if any data could be uncovered from my brain. (I am told that I can’t be hypnotised.)

(What motivated this post was that recently on the internet a man with `real time alien abductions which involved missing time’ was featured (interviewed) for a paranormal website - which over and over - seems to find `galatic warnings’ hovering around every paranormal event horizon. ———— What’s my point? My point is that the `interpretation’ of non-ordinary events is often skewed to what one expects to find. After-all, it would be pretty boring if `missing time’ recall was of `nothing at all’ - like mine. It also helps that I think a large majority if not ALL `apocalyptic messages’ may simply have another possibility more related to `consciousness’ than to `real alien warnings’ - http://theheavystuff.com/?p=132 - `A Twist To `Aliens’ Showing Us OUR Apocalypse’ ).

Finally, as `boring’ as Phenomenology is to most folks - it just may answer the riddles of events such as described above today in this post. Indeed, recently, I became aware of a new Phenomenology Philosopher, Alexis Jardines - who has concepts such as “actual-virtual correlations” - which I can fit hand in hand with my own Phillips Phenomenology Ideas http://theheavystuff.com/?cat=5.

Lastly, some of all this may even fit a Sartre idea on Phenomenology called `Doing and Having’ — yes, doing and having. How you ask? Well, he makes an interesting distinction about `things’ that `one creates’ - such as a poem, essay, (blogpost) - or -even a cane out of a piece of wood; that somehow, OUR creation of this `thing’ - ties it TO US in an ontological manner (yet it stands alone) in our common consensus reality we all experience. Well, how about the `creation by us’ that is not tied to common consensus?
